Cost of not double-checking things, but at least I 'Saved' something

Ang plano ay simple: AMS → SIN → MNL. Hindi naman rocket science diba…?

Ang realization#

So, nag-search ako ng AMS-SIN kasi nga may Spontaneous Escapes, and included na ulit ang AMS, hoping na I could get the exact same flight for a lower cost.

Right after seeing the cost (in miles), for the cancel naman agad ako ng original booking ko. Because who wouldn’t want the roughly 30K miles back just for 44€ diba?

So.. direcho bayad. Tingin sa confirmation, seems ok (because I didn’t really read it).

Then checked the app for my booking….

AMS → SIN lang! There’s no SIN → MNL! WTF! 🤦‍♂️

So hanap ako ng 2nd leg, or stay in Singapore for a night and fly next day

Good thing, I saw there really was a “cheaper” for the same flight, only 117K instead of 147K

So immediately cancelled the booking again and booked the actual AMS → SIN → MNL route.

Consequences of Stupidity#

Well… Obviously the double cancellation is one, which amounted 110 € - 44€ for the first cancellation, and 66€ for the next. I’d say it ain’t that bad for approximately 30K KrisFlyer savings. But still, it would have been better if its only 44€.

Plot Twist? Di rin… “Savings”!#

Of course it still costs money. But for me who values miles, it is still “Savings”. Why?

So, at a cost of around 106€, I was able to “save” almost 30K miles. Not that bad I would say.

Lesson Learned#

Well, the obvious ones: Double, triple check everything before proceeding! And ask yourself, is it for real?!?!
